Welcome to Slender Club Japan Live Demonstration & Annual Meeting 2018 in TOKYO!
SCJ is eleven years old now. Thank you everyone. We always make every possible effort to produce more effective and less invasive treatments, with assistance from our medical staff. The basic motivation behind our efforts has not changed.
Cherry blossom season has just ended in Tokyo, but we have the most comfortable season in Tokyo now because of sunny days and moderate temperature.
In this pleasant weather, we should not waste time. We have to do several things to make new beginnings and achieve ambitious targets. In other words, this period is even more important than Cherry blossom days.
By the way, most physicians think that PCI has become mature. We agree that it seems like a stable and comfortable period for us. Unfortunately, we are not seem like working on many new and exciting devices and stents. And some people say that our field is not seeing any progress now. They say that they are very sad that the era of great achievements in intervention is over…. Is that true? Of course, the answer is “NO.”
Even if the development of commercial devices slows down, our evolution does not stop.
This comfortable period of maturity is more important than the period of great achievements to work toward a future of the intervention.
For example, we perform Distal Radial Approach/Proximal Palm Artery Puncture, which is an epoch‐making technique. We have to determine its effectiveness and possible complications, as well as its tips and tricks. Further, we have to acquire and share all this information immediately. Following that, we can develop new techniques based on this approach.
Let us make a small effort together every day during this time. A huge tree does not grow in a day. That small effort may be an idea, a question, a success or a failure, or even just a suggestion. If we can combine those efforts, they could lead us to greater achievements!
Please share your views with each other in the SCJ meeting without hesitation. Please do not be afraid of putting across your opinion if it is honest and justifiable. Please give your tips to all attendants. And please take home something new for your patients, your staff, and yourself!
We must have communication and discussions with our friends all over the world.
The next wonderful decade has started!
